OUR PROGRAMS
EMERGENCY SHELTER
Nestled in a beautiful heritage house in the heart of downtown Toronto, this 50-bed shelter provides women with the basic living needs of shelter, safety, meals, clothing, hot showers, medical and other necessary resources and supports for a variety of challenges.
Also available at our shelter, our Housing Help Services assists women in finding and securing permanent, affordable housing. We continue to provide support once housed to ensure successful, ongoing housing. READ MORE ABOUT THE SHELTER
SUPPORTIVE HOUSING
We provide supportive housing for 32 women in downtown Toronto. Women learn to live independently after recovering from massive trauma, mental health issues and/or substance abuse issues. Staff encourage each woman to set and work towards her goals and support women to become active members in their communities. READ MORE ABOUT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING
LEARNING CENTRE
Our Learning Centre provides free, comprehensive services for women through daily literacy and numeracy classes. Women work towards their education and employment goals at their own pace and in their individual learning styles. This program also provides a computer lab, pre-employment services, access to workshops, guest speakers, field trips and community activities. READ MORE ABOUT OUR LEARNING CENTRE
ADDICTION SERVICES
We have both a residential treatment program called Grant House and an outreach program (addiction case managers). Grant House is an intensive 10-bed, six-month treatment program that women can access from the community and justice system. Both programs are trauma centred and focus on profound changes of lifestyle and behaviour. READ MORE ABOUT ADDICTION SERVICES
TRANSFORMATIONS PROGRAM
This program is specially designed for incarcerated women and is currently offered at the Vanier Centre for Women. Dealing with both abstinence and harm reduction models of recovery, groups work through the connection between trauma and addiction, with the intention of providing women with the ability to make change in their lives regarding their substance use.
HOMELESSNESS EDUCATION INITIATIVE
Through workshops in Toronto schools, this program educates youth by deconstructing the myths of homelessness, privilege and oppression. These workshops provide youth with the tools they need to make positive change.
