  • Wrapping up Mental Health Week with the reminder that connection, to ourselves and each other, is everything. 💙

We offer programming like yoga so the women in our community, from Supportive Housing to our Seniors' Social Club, have space to nurture their physical and mental wellbeing and feel truly connected to themselves and one another.

Because when you feel grounded in yourself and supported by your community, that's where healing begins.

Here's to every breath, every stretch, and every moment shared together.

  • This Mental Health Week, we're proud to spotlight Michelle, our on-site psychotherapist at Grant House 💙

When we asked what "Come Together, Canada: Stronger Connections, Better Mental Health" means to her, she said it perfectly: humans aren't just wired for togetherness, we need safe, responsive bonds where we feel truly seen. When this need goes unmet, isolation can take hold, significantly impacting mental health. Michelle brings that understanding into every session.

And what keeps her going every day? Her clients’ resilience and growth.

“Seeing clients return to school and invest in their education is especially fulfilling, as it reflects a growing sense of possibility and self-belief, and I am equally moved by the ways they move closer to their values and more authentic selves.”

Thank you, Michelle. We're so grateful for the safe, compassionate space you create.

  • May 5th is Red Dress Day.

The red dress is a symbol of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2-Spirit People, a visual reminder of the lives taken too soon, the women still missing, and the immeasurable grief carried by their families and communities.

Today, our team gathered at Grant House dressed in red. We heard from our client Brianna and several staff members who shared their stories and perspectives. We ended the afternoon by sharing Indigenous dishes prepared by Grant House residents and staff.

At Street Haven, we know that colonial violence, systemic racism, and intergenerational trauma aren't distant concepts, they live in the experiences of the women we serve every day. And we know that healing only begins when people feel safe, seen, and connected.

Today we stand in honour of those taken, those still missing, and the families who carry their memory.
