At Street Haven, we believe meaningful employment can change lives. We offer two employment pathways designed to meet women where they are in their career journey:
Integrated Employment Services: Personalized employment support, career coaching, job search assistance, and employer connections to help you secure sustainable employment across a variety of industries.
What We Offer
Our Employment Team provides individualized support, including:
- Career planning and employment coaching
- Resume and cover letter development
- Interview preparation and mock interviews
- Job search strategies and networking
- Employer connections and job matching
- Mentorship opportunities with industry professionals
- Digital skills training and community referrals
- Better Jobs Ontario consultations
- Ongoing support after employment begins
Women’s Healthcare Pathways
A specialized employment program for women interested in building a career in the healthcare sector, offering industry-specific training, coaching, and employer connections. This is a free employment and training program designed to help women build rewarding careers in the healthcare sector as Home Support Workers (HSWs) or Personal Support Workers (PSWs).
Participants will receive:
- Employment readiness preparation and career coaching
- Industry-recognized certifications through Idea Training Collaborative, including:
- First Aid & CPR
- Ethical Boundaries
- Aging in Place
- Conflict Resolution
Occupational training and placement at IBT College:
- Home Support Worker Diploma (12-week program), or
- Personal Support Worker Diploma (32-week program)
Ongoing employment support during training and after graduation to help you transition into meaningful employment
Eligibility
To access either of our Employment Ontario-funded Employment Services, you must:
- Identify as a woman.
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, protected persons, convention refugees, or individuals with a valid work permit).
- If you have a valid work permit, it must remain valid for at least 30 days, or you must have already submitted a renewal application.
- Not be an international student or a temporary work permit holder who is ineligible for Employment Ontario services.
- If you are currently registered with another Employment Ontario service provider, your file must be closed before registering with Street Haven. Please allow approximately 2–3 weeks for this process.
