  • Welcome to the team! 🎉💛

Meet Aiysha Daud, our new Intake Administrator for the Women's Healthcare Pathways Program!

Aiysha brings a deeply personal understanding of what it means to be a support system. She's long been the go-to person for her own family and community, navigating everything from immigration to medical and community resources. That same drive is exactly what makes her so well-suited to guide the women she'll now support at Street Haven.

What motivates her most? Watching clients discover their own strength and push past the barriers so many women face daily.

Welcome to Street Haven, Aiysha! We're so excited to have you join us.💛

  • Big thanks to the amazing team from @cibc for rolling up their sleeves with us! 💙

Their volunteers brought incredible energy, helping us clean out our donation garage, prepping for our garage sale, and furnishing a brand-new apartment for a new mom moving into her first home. 🏠

Corporate volunteers make a massive impact on the work we do every day, and we had a blast hosting them!

Want to get your workplace involved? If you’re a company champion looking for meaningful team-building opportunities that directly support your community, we’d love to collaborate with you.

Send us a DM today or visit the link in our bio (under 'Ways to Support') to get started! 📩

  • Standing Together Against Overdose

Yesterday, we gathered for International Overdose Awareness Day to honour the lives we've lost to overdose, and to stand against the stigma that so often keeps people from getting the support they need.

At Grant House, two of our clients shared their hearts with us. One read a poem she'd written in her creative writing workshop. Another shared a grief and reflection booklet she made that morning in an art workshop. It was a powerful reminder that even in grief, there is room for strength, creativity, and hope.

Over at Moss Park, for International OD Awareness Day, even the rain couldn't keep people away. Our team members Lilly and Tishana were there connecting with neighbours and community partners. And of course, a steadfast supporter of our community, MPP @kristynwongtam reminded us all in their speech that we are the ones driving change. And to keep going.

We were grateful to stand alongside our health and community partners in this work: @parkdalequeenwest_chc , @southriverdalechc , @streethealthtoronto , @regentparkchc , @prisonharmreduction , @sherbournehealth , @tngcommunityto , @fredvictorcentre and @drugchecking

Because the truth is, this work doesn't end when the day does. We are the people showing up to fight overdoses every day, not just on days like yesterday. And we'll keep advocating for harm reduction, health care, and the social supports that keep people alive and connected to care and recovery.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to remember, to connect, and to stand together. For those we have lost and for those still here. 💜

  • 25 Years On. Still Needed.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, 25 Years On. Still Needed. Its been 25 years of gathering to remember the people we've lost. 25 years of organizing to save the ones still with us. Overdose is preventable, and yet it continues to take people from our community, from our city, and from us here at Street Haven.

At Street Haven, mental health support and addiction recovery treatment are part of the care we provide every day. Every one of our sites is trained in the use of Narcan (naloxone), because we know that being ready to respond can be the difference between life and death. We advocate for harm reduction and for safe injection sites, because meeting people where they are, without judgment, saves lives.

We've seen overdoses. We've responded to them. And, unfortunately, we have lost clients to them. Although the stats are startling with the amount of fatal overdoses in this city, these women were not statistics to us. These were women we cared for, we housed, women who mattered.

How Street Haven is marking Overdose Awareness Day:

Today, at Grant House, we are coming together as a Street Haven family to remember the women we have lost to overdose in a quiet gathering.

We will be one of the many community organizations at the International Overdose Awareness Day Community Event in Moss Park from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. There will be information booths set up, including us, a memorial banner, activities, and food for all who attend.

Safety. Dignity. Hope. That's what we do at Street Haven, every single day and today; we do it in memory of those we've lost, and in hope for everyone still with us.

#IOAD2026 #OverdoseAware #EndOverdose #StreetHaven #EndTheStigma
  • Join us on Monday, August 31st as we come together with community organizations across Toronto to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day.

Street Haven will be on-site at the IOAD community event in Moss Park from 11 AM – 3 PM, alongside information booths, a memorial banner, activities, and food for all who attend.

📆 Date: Monday, August 31
⏰ Time: 11 AM – 3 PM
📍 Location: Moss Park – Northwest Corner by the Baseball Diamond, Shuter Street

This day is about honouring lives lost, supporting those still struggling, and standing together as a community. Bring your friends and family, everyone is welcome.

We hope to see you there. And if you are unable to attend, head down to see the CN Tower lit up in purple to commemorate the day.

Big thanks to the amazing team from @cibc for rolling up their sleeves with us!

Standing Together Against Overdose

Standing Together Against Overdose

Yesterday, we gathered for International Overdose Awareness Day to honour the lives we've lost to overdose, and to stand against the stigma that so often keeps people from getting the support they need.

25 Years On.
