Join us for a community garage sale where every purchase, big or small, goes straight to Street Haven's programs for vulnerable women experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Grab a bargain, and you're also helping fund shelter, housing, mental health and addiction support, and employment programs that help women build stable, independent lives.

  • Wow, our community really showed up for us this weekend! 🙌 We raised almost $1,000 from our Garage Sale for Good. So many of our neighbours and friends came out, browsing tables full of donated treasures, grabbing burgers at our community BBQ, and sticking around to chat. Every dollar raised goes straight into our wraparound services: shelter, housing, addictions and mental health support, and employment programs. Why days like this matter: it's proof that our community has our back. From the volume of donations that came in, to the crowds who showed up to shop, eat, and just be part of it, we walked away reminded of how lucky we are to be on Pembroke St. A special thank you to Kim from @indie88toronto who rolled up with the station van and spent the morning hyping up our sale to everyone who passed by. Thank you to every single person who came out Saturday, as a shopper, a BBQ guest, or a donor.   • TOMORROW'S THE DAY! 🎉 You've probably heard it on @indie88toronto 88 by now but Street Haven's garage sale and community BBQ is happening tomorrow, and we cannot wait. We've been busy getting everything ready, and we're feeling all the gratitude right now. Huge thank you to our amazing social committee, our volunteers, our donors, and our partners. This event could not happen without all of your support. 💛 And a special shoutout to Kim and the Indie 88 crew! Kim's been a longtime supporter of ours, and we reconnected with her at our spring social, only to find out she's the director at Indie 88. They've been hyping up our garage sale on air all week, and tomorrow their van is rolling through, so come find them and say hi! Expect good deals, good vibes, and fun for the whole family.   • Big things happening on the Employment & Training front! 🎉 We just launched Women's Healthcare Pathways, a brand new (and 100% free!) program helping women build real careers in healthcare as Home Support Workers (HSWs) or Personal Support Workers (PSWs). We've already run two orientations and welcomed over 20 women into the program. Watching them take these first steps toward a whole new career has been so inspiring. That's the kind of energy we love to see. Our next orientation is Friday, September 11 at 10:00am at our head office, so if you (or someone you know) is curious about a career in healthcare, now's the time.   • It's National Nonprofit Day! 🎉 Today we're celebrating the incredible people behind the scenes at Street Haven, from our staff and volunteers to our donors and partners. YOU make it possible for us to show up for the women in our city every single day. 💛 Working in the nonprofit sector isn't always easy. But when we see a client move into permanent housing, land a new job, or leave our recovery program stronger and healthier than when she arrived, we can't imagine doing anything else. That's the work we've been doing for over 60 years: shelter, housing, mental health and addiction supports, employment and training. All of it guided by the same belief that every woman deserves safety, dignity, and hope. None of this happens without YOU.
